Srinagar: The three-day winter youth festival ‘Jashn-e-Sheen’ concluded with much fanfare at Tagore Hall here on Monday. The festival organized by Actors’ Creative Theatre in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and supported by J&K Bank Ltd, was held to showcase the incredible talent of young and upcoming artists from the valley. On day 3, the event saw the performances from fresh and raw singers, leaving the audience mesmerised with enchanting traditional Kashmiri songs, Hindi Bollywood songs, Ghazals and semi-classical, rap songs. In addition to this Kashmiri Dance, Punjabi Dance, Dogri Dance and Pahadi Dance were also presented. The highlight of the show was participation of some visually-impaired singers from different corners of the valley. The festival dedicated to Marhoom Farooq Nazki Sahab – the recently departed legendary poet, visionary and former Director Doordarshan and All India Radio – saw a galaxy of high-profile personalities gracing the closing ceremony. While Abid Hussain the Additional Commissioner (Kashmir) attended the ceremony as Chief Guest, the guests of honour included; Syed Humayun Qaisar, Muslim Jan, Tariq Javaid, Adv. Shahwar Gowhar, Showkat Shafi, Parvez Manoos, Dr. Syed Iftikhar and other prominent citizens from length and breadth of the Valley. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Suhail Nazki (son of Farooq Nazki) and Rabia Nazki (daughter of Farooq Nazki). The Chief Guests and other speakers hailed the selfless efforts of Actors’ Creative Theatre and its creative director Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan. Mushtaaque Ali praised his dedicated team – Shahid Mushtaq, Akib Haleem, Basit Rather, Barkat Ali, Suhaib Lateef, Burhan Nazeer, Shaikh Shahid, Amin War and others for their selfless efforts in making the event a success. Ali also extended his thanks to the wonderful audience, who, he said, were thoroughly present on all three days. Ali on the eve also expressed his gratitude towards the electronic, print and digital media, who have been a huge support to the activities of ACT as always.
