Kishtwar, Jun 19: Searches are on to trace the bodies of at least six persons after a Tipper they were travelling in is presumed to have rolled down a road stretch in frontier Kishtwar district in Jammu division on Thursday last.

As per initial reports reaching Kashmir Glory a fatal accident is purported to have occurred yesterday morning, when a truck bound for Kinthro Nallah rolled down into Chenab river at Slipor Morh road.

The deceased are identified as driver Sandeep Kumar (Driver) son of Prem singh residence Kadhail Rajesh Kumar son of Krishan Nand residence Kadhail; Ravinder Kumar son of Tota Ram residence Jar; Rakesh Kumar son of Vaid Vyas residence Kadhail; Jabar Singh son of Jagdish Raj residence Jar and Manjeet Kumar son of Doulat Ram residence Sazar—all labourers, reports said.

After receiving the report about the accident, the local Administration, police and army conducted a search operation along the road side and found the road parapets and bushes damaged near Slipor Morh.

Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara today visited the accident spot to assess the rescue operations of the persons. The district administration has directed the SDM Paddar, Varun Jeet Charak to conduct intensive search out operation along with the NDRF team.

When contacted, the top-officer told Kashmir Glory that the labourers boarding the tipper is believed to have rolled down in the below flowing Chenab river. “All possible measures are being taken by the district administration to retrieve the bodies, Tara said adding “However we have achieved no success in retrieving any.”

An official privy to the search-operation team told that, the whole of the rescue operation is being keenly monitored by Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jatendra Singh.He has communicated to DDC kishtwar for extending each and every possible help to families of those feared dead.

However owing to deep gorge and fast flow of water, hampering the rescue operation, no body or wreckage of the tipper could be found at the spot, sources added.
