New Delhi: With the border standoff still unresolved, India and China will hold Corps Commander level talks in next two-three days. The agenda and issues to be raised by the Indian side in the meeting were discussed and finalised during a high-level meeting attended by National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, news agency ANI reported citing top government sources.

According to reports, India is likely to press for simultaneous disengagement and de-escalation by the Chinese side in the Eastern Ladakh sector during the meeting of two Corps Commanders.

The two sides have been locked in a bitter border dispute along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh since early May. In June, the Indian and Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops engaged in a violent exchange which resulted in the death of 20 Indian soldiers and significant damage to the Chinese side.

No power on earth can stop the Indian Army from patrolling LAC: Rajnath

Ever since New Delhi and Beijing have had several exchanges on diplomatic as well as military levels. The meetings have, however, yielded no outcome. Days ago, while delivering a statement in the Parliament on the Indo-China standoff, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that PLA troops violated the agreements guiding the LAC.

He underlined India’s commitment to peace in the region but stressed that the Indian armed forces are fully prepared to guard the country’s frontiers against any external aggression. In response to a question by Anand Sharma in the Upper House of the Parliament, Singh said, “No power on earth can stop the Indian Army from patrolling” the LAC.
