Jammu, Jan 14 (GNS): Widowed at a very young age, Razia Begum, wife of Wali Mohammad, PDD dailywager who died while repairing electricity line in Rajouri district, stares at a bleak future along with six daughters, one of them 20 days old. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law are paralysed.

Wali Mohammad was lone bread earner for the family and he died while repairing electricity near his home at Banghi, a village in Thanamandi area of the district last week. “It has been seven days since my husband died while performing official task but ironically not a single official from the department visited us nor was any relief provided to us,” she told GNS while holding her youngest daughter who was 13 days old at the time of father’s death.

While Razia and family is yet to come to terms with the tragedy which befell on them, the relatives and the neighbours urged the government to take a considerate view and provide immediate relief to the family to help them tide over the tragedy.

“Wali Mohammad died in line of the duty and it is incumbent upon the government to take care of his wife, children and parents. We are poor people and as such the responsibility is more on the administration,” said one of his relatives.(GNS)
