Jammu, July 2 (GNS): A woman was among five persons killed while as many others, including two teenagers, were injured when a taxi cab they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into nearly 1000-ft gorge in Ramban district on Friday, officials said.

They said that at around 1640 hours, the vehicle Sumo vehicle (JK03E-3218) on way from Neel to Tata Pani Sangaldan skidded off the thoroughfare and rolled down into the gorge at Digdol area in the district.

Five persons died on the spot and five others were injured, the officials told GNS.

Those who died in the accident include Naresh kumar (50) son of Shankar Lal of Ramsoo, Mohammad Ayoub (54) son of Ghulam Mohammad of Pogal Ramban, Naseem  Begam wife of Abid Hussain of Neel Zaaradi  Ramban, , Jaswant Singh (50) son Krishan Lal of Panthyal Ramban and Abdul Qadoos (60)son of Ghulam Mohammad of Zaradi Neel.

The injured have been shifted to district hospital Ramban for treatment. 

The injured have been identified as Aasmina (15) daughter of Muneeb Hussain of Zaradi Neel, Jeevan Singh (30) son of Sukhdev Singh of Panthyal Ramban, Sukhdev Singh (65) son of Krishan Lal of Panthyal Ramban, Khadam Hussain (diver) son of Kadoos Naik of Zaradi Neel and Naima Banoo (16) Abid Hussain of Neel Zaradi  

SHO Ramban Pardeep Kumar confirmed to GNS the accident. He said that soon after information was received, a massive rescue operation was launched.  Five persons died on the spot and their bodies retrieved, he said. The injured persons were removed to the hospital, he added. (GNS)
