Poonch, Jul 3 (GNS): Body of a nine-year-old girl, who had drowned in a river in Bedar Mandi area in Poonch on Wednesday last, was retrieved this afternoon, officials said.
As reported, the minor girl Aasiya Bano daughter of Mohammad Shareef was part of a group taking bath inside a river at her native village, when the incident occurred. A joint rescue operation was subsequently launched by SDRF, police assisted by locals soon after the incident and on sustained efforts for four consecutive days, the body was found and retrieved from the water body near Jalian this afternoon.
SHO Mandi Bashir Ahmad Kohli confirming the retrieval of body told GNS that the body has been handed over to the family for last rites on conduct of necessary medico-legal formalities. (GNS)
