“The recent GAD circular mentioning withdrawal of posts referred to Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission and Jammu  Kashmir Selection Board before 31-10-2019  has come as shock to the candidates who appeared in the interview only a month ago and were expecting selection list,” the aspirants said. The candidates include for the post of Assistant Professor for Television and Film Making and Travel and Tourism subjects under the 2017 recruitment notification.

The JKPSC had notified the advertisement on 28-10-2017 under notification number 101-PSC/DR/2017/10 for the recruitment of Assistant Professors in 109 subjects for government degree colleges of the erstwhile state. The recruitment got delayed due to various factors whereas expedited from 2020, they said.  The selection and appointment for majority of the subjects has been completed and the interview for two remaining subject was conducted from 28-12-2021 to 30-12-2021, they said. “Some of us are at the brink of crossing upper age limit despite having mandated qualifications and work experience as per University Grants Commission. We are at the risk of losing an opportunity forever,” they said, adding, “Given the fact that our interview was conducted more than a month back, our process of selection was literally on the last leg with little or no scope for any further amendments to the merit list prepared following the interview.”

They said it is only logical to think that publishing a selection list in this case will take lesser time than re-advertisement of the vacancies and going through the process of short-listing and interviewing all over again.

“We already waited for more than four years for the process  of selection to commence.  For all of us being passionate about the field, we not only spent time and efforts to prepare for the interview but some of us also let go off other opportunities for this,” they added.  (GNS)
