Srinagar, May 15: Under the aegis of Pharkian Brigade, an honouring the gallants event was organised at Balbir on May 15, 2022.
A statement received here reads that the event was aimed at paying homage to the fallen heroes who went beyond the call of duty and laid down their lives keeping up with the finest traditions of Indian Army while safeguarding the Line of Control in the Keran Sector.
The event, as per the statement, was attended by various serving Army personnel and veterans of 25 Punjab Regiment with Brigadier AK Goyal (Retd) being the senior most veteran and Major General Dinesh Hooda, VSM being the senior most serving officer. Brigadier Tapas Kumar Misra, VSM, Commander Pharkiyan Brigade also graced the occasion.
“These battle hardened veterans and serving personnel travelled from all over India to commemorate the sacrifices of our bravehearts”, the statement reads.
This one of its kind function which, according to the statement, was organised in an high altitude area included events like Ardas and Path, wreath laying and interaction with the soldiers presently deployed in Balbir.
“The veterans and serving personnel attending the event had previously served in this sector in 1991 thereby transferring their invaluable experience and guidance to the young warriors”, the statement concludes.
