Handwara, Jun 3 (GNS): A newborn was found dead in the premises of District Hospital Handwara on Friday.
Reports reaching GNS said some people spotted the baby lying in the premises and informed the hospital authorities about it. A medical team soon after reached the spot and took the body into its possession.
Aghast over the incident, a large number of people, according to whom the infant’s body had several dog bite marks, assembled near the health facility and demanded a thorough investigation to bring the culprits involved to justice.
Medical Superintendent DH Handwara Dr. Nissar Ahmad told GNS that a police complaint into the matter has been registered.
A police official in the meantime told GNS that on Friday evening they received information about an infant’s body lying behind DH Handwara building. “A police party was rushed to the spot”, the official said adding accordingly an FIR number 146/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered for necessary investigations.
