Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party headed by Incharge PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Zadoora Crossing on NHW-44 intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Mudasir Ahmad Ahangar son of Nazir Ahmad Ahangar resident of Doru and Mohd Iqbal Chopan son of Lal Mohd Chopan resident of Shangas. After noticing police party they tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. After checking, officers were able to recover 4.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance concealed in nylon bags from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 07/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
