Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said to have seized illicit timber worth lacs in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
“Police in Budgam have seized an illicit timber worth lacs in Atipora Sholipora, Budgam. Police Station Budgam received information through reliable sources that one person namely Reyaz Ahmad Itoo son of Abdul Karim Itoo resident of Atipora Sholipora has dumped illegally acquired timber at his home. Acting swiftly, a police party of Police Station Budgam raided the said house and seized illicit timber comprising 88 swans measuring 26.93 Cft. However, the accused managed to flee from the house and efforts are on to nab the accused”, reads a statement issued here.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 15/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation set into motion.”
“The drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold. Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police have resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal & anti-social activities”, reads the statement further.
