KUPWARA: As part of ongoing National Road Safety Month, ARTO Kupwara, Anees Ahmad today flagged -off a Walkathon-cum-Awareness Rally at TRC Kupwara, here.
Highlighting the importance of National Road Safety Month, the ARTO Kupwara said that enforcement of traffic regulations and awareness regarding road safety measures is essential for preventing road accidents. He advised that such awareness programmes, rallies and other related activities are organised to create a change in mindset of the people so that the people voluntarily follow traffic rules.
He added that Road accidents are preventable and it is very important that awareness programmes are organized with active involvement of drivers, youth and school children to educate the people about the road safety rules and imbibing safe driving habits.
The ARTO flagged-off a Walkathon (walk for awareness) under the theme ‘Be a road safety Hero’ in which, drivers, officers and officials of MVD participated. The Road Safety Walkathon started from TRC Kupwara and culminated at Rigipora water fountain.
