Budgam, May 12 : A tragic road accident near Jamkash in Sheikhpora area of Budgam district claimed the life of an auto-rickshaw driver on Monday evening after a speeding tipper collided with his vehicle, causing it to catch fire.
An official told news agency JKNS that the auto driver, identified as Showkat Ahmad Hajam, son of Mohammad Maqbool Hajam, a resident of Ompora Budgam, died on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said the tipper driver fled from the location immediately after the incident. Police have launched a hunt to trace the absconding driver, and further investigation into the case is underway. (JKNS)
