Ramban, July 11 :A tragic road accident in the Senabathi Dabdrora area of Ramban district claimed two lives and left four others injured after a TATA Sumo vehicle skidded off the road and plunged nearly 800 feet into a gorge on Friday evening.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the vehicle, bearing registration number JK14C 2038, was travelling from Senabathi towards Ukhral when the accident occurred. The driver reportedly lost control on a curve, causing the vehicle to roll down the steep slope.
Two occupants of the vehicle died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as, Tawqeer Ahmed, son of Ghulam Bhat, resident of Gujrara Senabathi and Abdul Latief, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Lalkhill Bhangara, they said.
The four injured persons were rescued by locals and police and later referred to GMC Anantnag for advanced medical treatment.
Police from Ramsu Police Station have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding or loss of vehicle control may have caused the accident. (JKNS)
