Centre vows sustained peace, mission-mode counter-terror operations to achieve terror-free Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi, Jan 8: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, on Thursday chaired a high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi and reiterated the Centre’s commitment to establish lasting peace and completely eliminate terrorism from the Union Territory.

As per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Director Intelligence Bureau, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of J&K, Heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and other senior officers.

Addressing the meeting, Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of India is pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. He said that due to sustained and coordinated efforts of the Modi government, the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir has been significantly crippled.

The Home Minister appreciated the efforts of security agencies for strengthening the security scenario in the Union Territory and stressed that Counter Terror (CT) operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and terror financing must continue in a mission mode.

Shah directed all security agencies to remain alert and work in close coordination to ensure that the gains achieved after the abrogation of Article 370 are sustained and the objective of a ‘terror-free Jammu and Kashmir’ is achieved at the earliest.

He assured that the Centre will provide all necessary resources to support this endeavour. (KNC)
