Kashmir:Police Seizes 03 Mechanized Motor Boats for Illegal Extraction of Minerals

02 Illegal Sand Dumping Sites Seized

February 09: Continuing its strict action against illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in Awantipora seized three mechanized motor boats involved in unlawful mineral-related activities, besides 02 illegal Sand Dumping sites also seized in Baramulla.

                   A police party from Police Station Awantipora, headed by SHO PS Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora seized the said mechanized motor boats which were being used for illegal extraction of minerals. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 32/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigation has been initiated.

                   Moreover in Baramulla, a joint team of Police Post Old Town and the Geology & Mining Department Baramulla seized two illegal sand dumping sites in the Old Town area. During the operation, approximately 223 Metric Tonnes (MTS) of illegally dumped sand were recovered from the sites. Necessary legal action has been initiated under relevant provisions of the MMRD Act.

                   Police appeals to the general public to cooperate and come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral extraction or transportation activities in their respective areas.
