February 26: As part of its sustained drive against illegal mining, Police Station Zainapora and Police Post Turkwangam have seized seven tractors involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in the Zainapora and Turkwangam areas of the district.

During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Station Zainapora intercepted one Tractor that were found illegally extracting minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard, FIR No. 16/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigation has been initiated.

Similarly, Police party from Police Post Turkwangam intercepted six Tractors indulging in illegal mining activities without valid royalty documents in Sugan and Turkwangam areas. In this connection FIR No. 17/2026 and 18/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigation has been initiated.

J&K Police reaffirm their commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining. The general public is urged to cooperate by reporting such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept confidential and stringent action will be taken against violators.
