New Delhi: Strategic affairs analyst and defence commentator Maroof Raza died on Thursday at a hospital in Gurugram after a prolonged illness. He was 66.
Raza had been undergoing treatment for serious health complications, including cancer and a severe lung infection. He was on life support in recent days and breathed his last at Fortis Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on February 27 at Anjuman Baghiya in Sector 56, Gurugram, followed by a military memorial service at the same venue.
Known for his work on defence and national security issues, Raza remained a prominent voice in India’s strategic affairs discourse for several decades.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled his death in a message posted on X. “Shri Maroof Raza Ji made a rich contribution to the world of journalism. He enriched public discourse with his nuanced understanding of defence, national security as well as strategic affairs. Pained by his passing. Condolences to his family and friends”.
