March 11: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Police in Anantnag achieved a significant success by arresting two drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Post Sangam, while conducting routine checking at Halmulla, intercepted a Maruti Alto bearing registration No. JK01P-4799. During search, officers recovered approximately 4.90 kilograms of Ganja-like substance concealed inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Suhail Ahmad Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat resident of Baliyar Marhama was arrested and the contraband substance was seized.

In another operation, a naka party of Police Post Sangam apprehended an individual identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat son of Abdul Razak Bhat resident of Bhatpora, Marhama at K.V. Pora Marhama. During search, approximately 3.74 kilograms of Charas powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Regarding the incidents, cases vide FIR Nos. 56/2026 and 57/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and further investigation has been set into motion.

J&K Police remain committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from society and urge the general public to cooperate with the police by providing information about drug peddling or any suspicious activities in their areas.
