New Delhi, Mar 14 : The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued a notification amending the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000, barring consumers who have Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections from retaining or refilling domestic LPG cylinders.
According to the notification issued under the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, a copy of which lies with news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, individuals who already have a PNG connection will not be allowed to keep a domestic LPG connection or obtain refills from government oil companies or their distributors. Such consumers will be required to surrender their LPG connections immediately.
The amended order further states that persons with PNG connections will also be prohibited from applying for a new domestic LPG connection or receiving LPG cylinder refills from government oil companies.
The amendment, titled the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Amendment Order, 2026, comes into effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
It also prohibits government oil companies from providing domestic LPG connections or supplying refills to consumers who already possess a PNG connection. (KNC)
