Action Against Illegal Extraction & Transportation of Minerals; Police Seizes 12 Vehicles In Ganderbal and Shopian

March 27: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police have seized 12 vehicles in Ganderbal and Shopian involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.

Police in Ganderbal seized 09 Tractors for illegal extraction of minerals in the jurisdiction of PS Kangan and PP Nagbal. These Vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. Accordingly, the vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.

Similarly in Shopian, a police party of Police Station Shopian have seized two Dumpers and L&NT Machine involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in the Rambiara Nallah of the district. In this regard case FIR No. 37/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been initiated.

Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources. Strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices.
