Food Safety Department acts swiftly; samples collected, strict warning issued to violators

Srinagar, Mar 30 : The Food Safety Department has taken swift action after a viral video surfaced on social media showing tea blending under highly unhygienic conditions, prompting immediate inspection and enforcement measures.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC that a team of Food Safety Officers conducted a raid at the location, where it was found that tea blending and packaging were being carried out on the floor in extremely unsanitary conditions. The inspection also revealed the use of non-food-grade equipment, posing serious health risks.

Following these violations, the processing unit has been sealed until further orders. Two samples of tea one loose and one packed have been collected and sent for laboratory analysis.

The department has directed all Food Business Operators to strictly adhere to hygiene standards, warning that any violation will invite strict legal action under the Food Safety and Standards regulations. (KNC)
