Shopian, Mar 31 : A police constable lost his life after sustaining injuries day before yesterday in an accidental firearm incident, officials said on Tuesday.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC that, the 36-year-old police constable is the resident of Noorpora, Shopian was injured on Sunday.
The constable, was initially referred to SKIMS Soura from Army Base Hospital after being injured in Shopian.
He had sustained a gunshot wound to the right side of his abdomen when a fellow colleague accidentally discharged a firearm during duty.
He was admitted to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) at SKIMS Soura for treatment but passed away despite medical efforts.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge. (KNC)
