Jammu, Mar 31 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Pulwama Waheed-ur-Rehman Para on Tuesday raised concerns over rising unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, urging the government to initiate a prompt and time-bound recruitment process to fill vacant positions.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC MLA Para said, “The Union Territory is facing one of the highest unemployment rates, estimated at around 32 percent. With over 30,000 posts lying vacant, there is an urgent need for a structured, time-bound recruitment plan.”

He stressed the importance of transparency in the recruitment process, citing recent complaints of examination paper leaks. “Repeated reports of paper leaks erode public trust and discourage deserving candidates,” he said, calling for strict safeguards to restore confidence among job aspirants.

Para’s remarks highlight the growing frustration among youth over delayed recruitments and alleged irregularities. “Accountability must be ensured, and the recruitment system strengthened so that opportunities reach the most deserving,” he added.

Unemployment and recruitment transparency continue to be major issues in Jammu and Kashmir, with political leaders and civil society repeatedly calling for systemic reforms. (KNC)
