April 01: In a determined effort to curb illegal mining, Police in Shopian have seized seven tractors involved in unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from the Heerpora, Berthipora, Wachi and Turkwangam areas of the district.
Regarding the incidents five FIRs have been registered in Heerpora, Keller and Zainapora police stations. Besides, seven tractors have also been seized for their involvement in illegal transportation of minerals.
J&K Police reaffirm their commitment to protecting the natural resources and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining. Citizens are urged to cooperate with the police by reporting any instances of illegal mining.
