The enforcement operation was meticulously spearheaded by MVI Irfan Aziz, AMVI, Arun Kaw and other officials under close supervision of ARTO Mohammad Shafait
During the extensive day-long operation, the enforcement teams inspected a high volume of traffic, penalizing habitual offenders and visible violators. The inspecting teams maintained a zero-tolerance policy against violations that directly compromise passenger and pedestrian safety. The 52 E-Challans were issued for a variety of critical offences, prominently including safety gear violations by Two-wheeler riders operating without helmets and drivers found without fastened seat belts, vehicles operating without mandated High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) and those lacking functional Speed Limiting Devices (SLD).

Vehicles using illegal pressure horns, causing severe noise pollution and overloading by passenger and commercial vehicles found carrying loads or passengers beyond permissible limits were also penalized by the team.
In a firm move to deter reckless driving, the department has recommended 19 Driving Licenses for immediate suspension. This stringent action underscores the Transport Department’s commitment to permanently removing habitual and dangerous offenders from the roads.

The ARTO Kupwara has issued a stern warning to all motorists and transporters in the district, urging them to strictly abide by the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The department emphasized that such unannounced, intensive enforcement drives will be a regular occurrence in the coming weeks across all routes in the Kupwara district.

Motorists are advised to keep their vehicular documents up to date, install requisite safety devices like HSRP and SLDs, and strictly follow road safety protocols to avoid heavy penalties and legal action.
