May 07: In a decisive action, under the aegis Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan-100 Days Campaign, Srinagar Police, in collaboration with the Drug and Food Control Department, conducted a comprehensive inspection drive of medical shops & pharmacies, in Qamarwari and Safakadal areas of the city to ensure strict compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and to curb illegal practices.

During inspection in Qamarwari area, five medical shops were found involved in serious violations, including possession/sale of expired medicines, maintenance of invalid stock, and non-compliance with prescribed protocols governing psychotropic substances. Acting promptly under law, the authorities sealed New MS Medicate, Majid Medicate, Kashif Medicate, Baitul Shifa, Bund and Hamad Medicate, Qamarabad on the spot.

During checking in Safakadal area, a medical shop operating under the name Azim Medicate, run by Irshad Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Sultan Bhat resident of Bemina, located at Malik Sahib, Safakadal, was found functioning with an invalid licence. Further inspection revealed that approximately 90% of the medicines stocked in the shop were expired. Police immediately sealed the medical shop under proper legal procedures.

The action reflects the firm commitment of Srinagar Police towards safeguarding public health and preventing the misuse of pharmaceutical substances.

Further legal proceedings under relevant provisions of law have been initiated against the violators.

J&K Police reiterates its resolve to continue such enforcement drives across the district as part of the broader campaign against drug abuse and unlawful pharmaceutical practices.
