Anantnag, 08 May 2026: In its continued drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Anantnag Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering contraband substance from his possession.
A Police party of Police Post GBS, while conducting naka checking at Muslim Abad, Anantnag, intercepted a suspicious vehicle (Ritz bearing registration No. JK01P-8668) coming from Muslim Abad towards KP Road, Anantnag. On being signalled to stop, the driver attempted to flee from the spot; however, the alert police party tactfully intercepted and apprehended the vehicle.
During preliminary questioning, the driver disclosed his identity as Milad Ayoub S/O Mohammad Ayoub Mir R/O Nai Basti, Anantnag. Upon search of the vehicle, a polythene bag concealed beneath the driver’s seat was recovered, containing Charas powder-like substance weighing approximately 95 grams.
In this connection, FIR No. 136/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag and investigation has been taken up to unearth forward and backward linkages involved in the narcotics network.
Anantnag Police remains committed towards making the district drug-free and appeals to the general public to share any information related to drug peddling or substance abuse with the nearest police establishment.
