May 09: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining activities, J&K Police arrests 02 persons & seized 05 vehicles loaded with illegally extracted minerals in Baramulla.
Baramulla Police intercepted two tractors during naka checking on the Kunzer–Tangmarg axis while they were proceeding from Reeram towards Batpora. During checking, the vehicles bearing registration No. JK09B-3203 and another tractor having engine No. S/CB09990 were found loaded with illegally extracted Nallah Bajri (gravel). The drivers identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat S/O Fiyaz Ahmad Bhat and Sahil Ahmad Dar S/O Abdul Hamid Dar, both residents of Chandbagh, failed to produce any valid permission or authorization for extraction and transportation of the said material. Accordingly, FIR No. 59/2026 under Sections 303(2), 329(3) BNS and Section 3(2) of the PDPP Act has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation has been taken up. Both vehicles involved in the offence have also been seized.
Moreover, Police seized three tippers loaded with illegally extracted sand and gravel (Khak Bajri) at Kanispora during routine checking and patrolling operations. The vehicles involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of mineral material were seized on the spot, and legal action under Section 21 of the MMDR Act was initiated against the violators.
Police reiterates its commitment towards strict action against illegal mining activities and appeals to the public to cooperate in safeguarding natural resources and public property.
