Srinagar, May 11: The X account of Peoples Democratic Party leader Iltija Mufti was withheld in India following a legal demand, with users in the country unable to access the handle.
Users, as learnt, attempting to open the account were shown a message stating that “@IltijaMufti_ has been withheld in IN in response to a legal demand.”
The development comes days after Cyber Police Kashmir registered an FIR against certain individuals over the alleged circulation of separatist content on social media. Reports said the case was linked to a video shared by Iltija Mufti featuring late separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani speaking about the Urdu language.
Notably, X withholds accounts in specific countries in response to legal requests or government directives under local laws.
