Srinagar, May 30 (GNS): The Uri-I Stage-II hydroelectric project is set to formally commence on Sunday with a symbolic blast ceremony at the project site in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials said the inaugural blast will mark the beginning of Phase-II construction activities of the project being executed by MAX INFRA (I) Pvt Ltd.
A senior official associated with the project told GNS that the symbolic blast will take place around 350 metres inside the tunnel from the adit portal. The ceremony is expected to be attended by the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC, who will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Authorities said all necessary safety protocols and security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of workers as well as residents living in nearby areas.
Officials also appealed to the public not to panic over the blasting activity, stating that the operation is planned, controlled, and will be conducted under strict technical supervision.
They added that all precautionary measures would be followed during the operation to avoid any risk or inconvenience to the public. (GNS)
