Budgam, June 21(GNS): A 15-year-old boy drowned while bathing in the Doodhganga River in the Manchowa area of Budgam district on Sunday.

Officials told GNS that the boy had gone to the river with two other boys when he reportedly slipped into deeper waters and disappeared. Preliminary reports suggest he did not know how to swim.The deceased has been identified as Aabid Hussain, a resident of Gool Gulab Garh.

Local residents, police, and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. The operation was ongoing at the time of filing this report.

Further details are awaited as rescue efforts continue.(GNS)
