June 21: In a major boost to the ongoing fight against narcotics under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police intensified its anti-drug operations, leading to the apprehension of a drug peddler in Anantnag and the destruction of wild cannabis cultivation in Baramulla.

In Anantnag, a police party from Police Station Utrasoo intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK03C-4427 at Watikash Yadibagh during routine checking. The rider, identified as Irfan Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Hameed Khan resident of Baighpora Songlan, was subjected to a search during which approximately 22 grams of charas were recovered from his possession. The accused was immediately taken into custody and the contraband was seized in accordance with legal procedures.

Meanwhile, in Baramulla, police conducted a special wild cannabis destruction drive in the Aglar Wussan area as part of sustained efforts to curb the cultivation and misuse of narcotic substances. During the operation, police teams destroyed wild cannabis plants spread over a considerable area, thereby preventing their potential use for illegal narcotic activities.

These actions reflect the unwavering commitment of J&K Police towards eliminating the drug menace, dismantling narcotics networks, and safeguarding society from the harmful effects of substance abuse.

J&K Police appeals to the public to actively support the anti-drug campaign by sharing information regarding drug trafficking, illegal cultivation, and other narcotics-related activities.
