Srinagar, Jun 24: Baramulla Member of Parliament Er Rashid will be released on a five-day interim bail on Thursday to enable him to attend the 40th day religious observance of his late father, Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, a party leader said on Wednesday.
The party leader said the interim bail has been granted in accordance with an earlier order of the High Court, allowing the incarcerated MP to participate in the religious observance being held by the family.
The 40th day religious observance is scheduled to be held at the family’s native place, Lachh Mawer Handwara, where prayers will be offered in memory of the deceased. Family members, relatives, political associates, supporters and a large number of well-wishers are expected to attend the gathering to pay their respects and offer condolences.
According to the party leader, Er Rashid is expected to arrive in Srinagar on Thursday morning following his release. He will remain with his family during the religious observance and is expected to receive visitors from Friday afternoon onwards.
