June 24: In a significant action against the narcotics ecosystem under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police in Sopore have attached an immovable property belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The attached property comprises a double-storey residential house valued at approximately ₹30 lakh, located at Dharnambal, Tarzoo, Sopore, and belongs to Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh son ofGhulam Mohammad Sheikh resident of Dharnambal, Tarzoo, Sopore. The action was taken following a detailed enquiry and financial investigation, which revealed that the property had been acquired from proceeds generated through illicit narcotics trafficking. The property was accordingly identified as illegally acquired and attached under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.The attachment forms part of Police’s sustained strategy to target not only drug peddlers but also the financial infrastructure supporting the narcotics trade. By depriving drug traffickers of assets acquired through illegal activities, the objective is to dismantle the economic foundations of the drug network and deter others from indulging in similar crimes.

J&K Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse. Stringent legal and financial action shall continue against all those involved in the narcotics trade. The action is part of the ongoing efforts under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to build a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
