Urges DC Kulgam for assistance in providing an electric wheelchair amid financial and mobility challenges

Kulgam, June 25: Every school day begins with a challenge for Asrar Amin, a specially-abled Class 10 student from Qaimoh in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Yet, the teenager remains unwavering in his ambition to become a doctor.

A student of Government Higher Secondary School (HSS) Qaimoh, Asrar says mobility-related difficulties make attending school and carrying out routine activities a constant struggle. Despite these barriers, he continues to pursue his studies with determination.

Speaking to Kashmir News Corner—(KNC), Asrar said he faces immense difficulties in his day-to-day life, particularly while attending school and carrying out routine activities. However, he remains determined to excel in academics and achieve his goal of serving society as a doctor.

“I want to become a doctor and am working hard towards that goal. An electric wheelchair would help me attend school and carry out daily activities with greater ease,” he said.

“My family is my biggest strength. My parents support me in every possible way and encourage me to continue my studies. Whatever I have achieved so far is because of their sacrifices and dedication,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the Principal and teachers of Government HSS Qaimoh for their constant encouragement and support.

“I appeal to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam and other authorities to provide me with an electric wheelchair. It will help me move independently, attend school regularly and continue my education without hardship,” he said.

He said an electric wheelchair would not only ease his mobility challenges but also reduce the burden on his parents, who assist him daily.

“We are unable to afford an electric wheelchair for our son. We have nothing to sell and live in a modest home. If needed, I am even ready to sell my kidneys for my son’s future,” says Tawfeeqa Jan, mother of Asrar Amin, appealing to the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam and other authorities for assistance.(KNC)
