June 25: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party headed by SHO Police Station Kulgam on a specific information regarding the transportation of drugs in the jurisdiction of PS Kulgam. Acting promptly, a checkpoint was established near Chambgund bridge Kulgam. During checking, one suspicious person after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. After checking, officers present were able to recover contraband substance in the form of tables apparently VERNOR-N (Buprenophine Hydrochloride 2.0 mg and Naloxone Hydrochloride 0.5 mg), comprising 190 strips (each strip contains 10 tablets) from his possession. The accused identified as Muzamil Ahmad Rather son of Mubarak Ahmad Rather resident of Chancer, Kulgam was arrested on spot and the contraband substance was sealed in presence of Executive Magistrate.
Accordingly, a Case vide FIR No. 114/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation has been set into motion.
General public is requested to come forward with any information regarding Drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to Police in eradicating the drug menace from the society as drugs are consuming the precious lives and career of our young generation.
