Kulgam, June 25: Kulgam Police on Thursday arrested an alleged drug peddler and recovered 1,900 tablets of a Buprenorphine-Naloxone-based contraband from his possession during an anti-narcotics operation in the district.
The accused has been identified as Muzamil Ahmad Rather, son of Chancer, a resident of Kulgam.
According to police, a quantity of Vernor-N tablets, containing Buprenorphine Hydrochloride 2.0 mg and Naloxone Hydrochloride 0.5 mg, comprising 1,900 tablets, was recovered during the operation.
Following the recovery, the accused was taken into custody and the seized contraband was confiscated.
Police said a case has been registered under the relevant provisions of law, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify any wider network involved in its supply and distribution. [KNT]
