Shimla, June 29 : In a significant development, the Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to transfer the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Superintendent of Police (SP), and Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kullu within one week, holding them responsible for failing to prevent the alleged proliferation of rave parties in the Parvati Valley.
A Division Bench comprising Justices Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia and Bipin Chander Negi observed that the three senior officers had failed to uphold law and order and instead facilitated conditions that allowed large-scale rave parties to flourish in the region.
The High Court further directed the Himachal Pradesh Government to initiate departmental proceedings against the officials, citing their alleged dereliction of duty and failure to effectively discharge their responsibilities in maintaining public order.
The directions were issued during the hearing of a matter concerning the increasing number of rave parties in the Parvati Valley. Expressing serious concern, the Court observed that the administration had failed to take adequate measures to curb such activities, which had adversely impacted law and order and public interest.
The Court’s observations underscore the judiciary’s concern over administrative accountability and signal strict action against officials found negligent in enforcing law and maintaining public discipline. (KNC)
