Poonch, June 30(GNS): A 19-year-old youth drowned while bathing in a river at Sani, Surankote, on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials told GNS that the drowning incident occurred around 12:10 PM when Tamim had come to Sani with his friend. Locals immediately launched a rescue effort and retrieved him from the water. He was shifted to Sub-District Hospital Surankote, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Tamim Tariq, son of Muhammad Tariq, a resident of Village Budhan, PS Mahore.
BMO Surankote Dr Mohd Yousaf Choudhary confirmed the death.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings.(GNS)
