Srinagar, July 1(GNS):An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan late Wednesday night, with tremors felt across parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to primary data from GFZ , the quake occurred at 11:27:01 PM IST on July 1, 2026. The epicenter was located at 70.47°E longitude and 36.53°N latitude, at a depth of 185 km.
Mild tremors were reported from several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, causing brief panic among residents. No loss of life or property has been reported so far.
