Jammu, July 2(GNS) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday flagged off the first batch of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 pilgrims from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu.
Officials told GNS that the batch, comprising hundreds of devotees from across the country, left amid tight security arrangements and religious fervor. Chanting of hymns and prayers marked the occasion as officials and security personnel oversaw the departure.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, LG Sinha extended his best wishes to the pilgrims and said comprehensive arrangements for security, health, sanitation, and logistics have been put in place to ensure a smooth and safe Yatra. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to providing all facilities to the yatris.
The 2026 Amarnath Yatra is being conducted through the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, with multi-layered security, RFID tracking, and round-the-clock monitoring in place.
The first convoy proceeded towards the Kashmir Valley under escort, where it will halt at base camps before proceeding to the holy cave shrine.(GNS)
