Srinagar, July 23 (GNS): The Food & Drugs Administration (FDA), J&K conducted inspections and sampling across the Union Territory to check compliance with food safety requirements.

During the drive, 148 food business establishments were inspected and 75 enforcement samples were lifted.

Further, six Improvement Notices were issued to Food Business Operators (FBOs) for deviations from hygiene and sanitary requirements.

Six FBOs were compounded under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and a fine of ₹6,000 was imposed.

In view of the prevailing rainy season, consumers were advised to use boiled drinking water, avoid pre-cut fruits and food kept in unhygienic conditions, and ensure proper storage of food items.

FDA has requested consumers to report any suspected unsafe or adulterated food product through Toll-Free Helpline No. 104 or email at cfsjandk.fnd@jk.gov.in.(GNS)
