Administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening enforcement, improving service delivery and enhancing efficiency in Motor Vehicles Department
SRINAGAR: In a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at enhancing the efficiency and smooth functioning of the Motor Vehicles Department, the Transport Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir, has ordered the transfer and posting of five Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs) across the Union Territory with immediate effect.
According to Order No. 140-TC of 2026 dated July 29, 2026, issued by the Office of the Transport Commissioner, J&K, Transport Bhawan, Bemina, Srinagar, the transfers have been effected in the interest of administration to strengthen service delivery, streamline enforcement and improve the overall functioning of Regional Transport Offices (ARTOs).
As per the order, Danish Yaqoob has been transferred from ARTO Baramulla to ARTO Ganderbal, while Pervaiz Ahmad Khan has been shifted from the Transport Commissioner’s Office (UT Level Enforcement Team) to ARTO Budgam. Tariq Ahmad Jhara has been transferred from ARTO Ganderbal to ARTO Kulgam, Asif Amin Chalkoo has been moved from ARTO Budgam to ARTO Kupwara, and Hakim Shahid Mehboob Chirag has been transferred from ARTO Kulgam to ARTO Baramulla.
The order further stipulates that the transferred officers shall continue to discharge their routine responsibilities while also functioning as members of the Board of Inspection and the Driving Testing Board in their respective jurisdictions. Besides, they will undertake enforcement duties in accordance with the roster issued by the Transport Commissioner, J&K.
All the officers have been deemed relieved from their present places of posting with immediate effect and have been directed to report at their new places of posting without any delay to ensure seamless continuation of departmental work.
The transfer order has been issued under the authority of Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan, JKAS, and copies have been forwarded to the Transport Department, Regional Transport Officer Kashmir, concerned Assistant Regional Transport Offices (ARTOs), Chief Accounts Officer and other concerned authorities for information and necessary compliance.
