August 01: In a significant breakthrough against property crime, J&K Police in Shopian have successfully solved a livestock theft case, leading to the recovery of all 08 stolen buffaloes and the arrest of three accused persons.

Police Station Heerpora registered a case vide FIR No. 69/2026 on the written complaint of Mohd. Bashir Baniya son of Mir Mohammad Baniya resident of Kalakot Rajouri presently residing at Bada Nad Behak. The complainant reported that unknown thieves had stolen 08 buffaloes during the intervening night of 25/26 July 2026. Upon registration of the case, a special investigation team of Police Station Heerpora was constituted. Through sustained efforts, meticulous investigation, technical analysis, and field intelligence, the investigating team successfully traced the accused persons involved in the theft. The arrested accused have been identified as Umar Nazir Malik son of Nazir Ahmad Malik resident of Check Saidpora, Talib Hussain Doie son of Ali Mohammad Doie resident of Check Chotipora and Kadeer Hussain Barwal son of Ashiq Hussain Barwal resident of Malik Check. During the course of investigation, all 08 stolen buffaloes were recovered from the possession of the accused. Further investigation is in progress.

Police reiterate their unwavering commitment to taking firm action against criminals and anti-social elements and remain dedicated to safeguarding the lives and property of the public while maintaining peace and security across the region.
