Anantnag, Aug 9 (GNS): A 16-year-old boy died after drowning in the Lidder River at Dar Mohalla, Chee area of Anantnag on Sunday. His body was later fished out by SDRF personnel with help from locals.
Officials identified the deceased as Barik Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmed Sofi, resident of Laram Ganjipora, Anantnag.
Officials told GNS that a search and rescue operation was launched immediately after receiving information about the incident. After sustained efforts, the State Disaster Response Force team, along with local residents, recovered the boy’s body from the river.
The body was later handed over to the local police for legal formalities.(GNS)
