September 18: Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking and to curb the menace of narcotics, J&K Police in Anantnag arrested three drug peddlers in two separate cases and recovered Contraband substance from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Bijbehara, during naka checking at Darashikwa Crossing, Bijbehara, apprehended two persons namely Som Sarthi son of Deepak Sarthi and Chotu Bariya son of Kanhaiya Lal, both residents of Chhattisgarh, presently staying at Guree, Bijbehara. During their search, 74.6 grams of charas-like substance in stick form was recovered from their possession. In this regard, FIR No. 267/2026 U/S 8/20, 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
In another action, a police party from Police Post Bus Stand apprehended one person namely Aijaz Ahmad Wani son of Nazir Ahmad Wani resident of Anchidoora at Bus Stand Crossing. During search, 10 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 316/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is underway.
Police reiterates its commitment to taking stringent legal action against persons involved in drug trafficking and making sustained efforts towards a Drug-Free Anantnag.
