Reasi, Sep 22: A woman died after jumping from Baradari Bridge into the Chenab River in Reasi area here on Tuesday, officials said.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the woman jumped into the Chenab and was soon rescued from the river, following which CPR was administered to her.
The official said that despite efforts, the woman could not be revived and died on the spot. “The body has been shifted to District Hospital Reasi for medico-legal formalities,” said the official, adding that her identity is being ascertained.
Meanwhile, the circumstances leading her to take such a step are being verified and a probe has begun, said the official.
