SHOPIAN: The Additional District Development Commissioner, (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone today flagged-off a group of 60 orchardists from Mini-Secretariat Shopian for training cum exposure tour to SKUAST-K Shalimar and Central Institute for Temperate Horticulture Srinagar.

During the tour, Orchardists will interact with the Scientists of the SKUAST-K and CITH, and will also visit the different demonstration plots for imparting Practical Training about establishment/ upkeep of High Density Fruit Plantation and organic farming in the field of Horticulture.

The exposure tour was organised by the Department of Horticulture Shopian under ATMA.

On the occasion, ADDC interacted with the Orchardists and took feedback on various schemes and programmes implemented by the department.

The tour is aimed to enrich knowledge of Orchardists and enhance agricultural practices besides providing Orchardists firsthand experience and insights into innovative farming techniques, sustainable practices and modern technologies.

Chief Horticulture Officer, Shopian informed that the tour will encompass visits to various units established at SKUAST-K including CA Stores, Grading Lines and other Food Processing Units renowned for their excellence in farming methods.

Participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts and fellow Orchardists, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing, he added.

Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Shopian, Shakoor Ahmed Dar, Chief Horticulture Officer, Shopian, Mohammad Ramzan War, other officers and officials of Horticulture Department were present on the occasion.
