Arshad Mir To Oversee Body As Gen Secy, Iqbal Wani As Organising Secy
Srinagar: Various Srinagar-based media outlets came together to constitute a body under the banner of ‘Media Council Kashmir’ aimed at redressal of long pending grievances, including pending of empanelment of newspapers and accreditation matters.
The council participants unequivocally voiced their concerns regarding the issues faced by the media persons and emphasized to strengthen the fraternity on grassroot level.
After discussing the matters threadbare, the participants reached a consensus to constitute a body to overlook the matters for an early redressal.
The council constituted includes; senior journalist Beigh Shameem Ahmad as President, Mohammad Iqbal Wani as Organising Secretary, Arshad Mir as General Secretary, Zahid Bhat as Vice President, Muzaffar Ahmad Khan as Spokesperson, Bilal Ahmad Darzi as Treasurer, Khalid Qureshi as Publicity Secretary, Manzoor Ahmed Baba as Secretary and Noor Mohammad as Executive Member.
Meanwhile the media fraternity has welcomed the constitution of the council members, especially Beigh Shameem Ahmad, and expressed hope that all the members will work for the betterment of media.
